You've signed with McCann Construction, Inc and your remodeling work is about to begin. What you and McCann Construction Inc do next about your working relationship will make a pleasant experience of the process.
Keep a list of procedures.
We will explain and give you a written copy of what work will be done and a time line so you'll know the time needed for what's involved.
Plan adequate storage space.
Make room for materials, tools, and equipment by clearing the remodeling area of unnecessary furniture and fixtures. Take them to a room which is not a part of the remodeling project or in some cases you may have to find a storage facility for the time required.
Post our phone # by your phone in case you have a question.
Consider the logistics involved in delivering, shipping, and ordering materials making the best use of the trades person's time and skill. We are as anxious as you are to finish the job.
Check locks and keys.
You probably will need to share keys with us if no one is home at all times.
Try to stay out of the construction area.
This is important for safety and for maintaining construction schedules. Keep pets, toys, and children out of the workers' way during construction will make the process much smoother.
Expect the unexpected.
No one can prepare you for all the unforeseen incidents that may transpire. Tearing down a wall may uncover a problem that demands plan revisions.
Workmanship.
Expect the highest of industry standards of quality workmanship.
Batten down your belongings.
Cover furniture and carpeting in other parts of the house. Use this time to have your draperies and upholstery cleaned. You won't believe the dirt and dust remodeling creates.
Plan ahead to do without water or power when workers shut off lines.
That way you'll avoid food spoilage in your refrigerator because of an unexpected power shut-off. Be sure to shut off HVAC during the sheetrock stage.
